Creating NEW content (new page or even a section on a page)

One of the most important tips is that when you are going to create any new content (page, news post, event) or even a section on the page… DUPLICATE something similar that already exists.

  • For a page you need to copy, go to a page that has similar content, click “Copy to a New Draft” at the top of the page and a clone of that page will be created.
  • For a section on the page, find a similar section, hover, click the “copy” icon, which looks like 2 pieces of paper. Make sure you copy the ENTIRE row, rather than just a module in a row, because if you copy the entire row, you will get the proper padding, margins and backgrounds of that row, which I have already set up.

Create a News Post, Event, Farmer's Market, Variety, Recipe, Stewardship/community award, Partner Farm

  • In the Dashboard, find the “Posts” tab
  • Filter for the category of posts you need to edit
  • Or if you are creating a new one…hover over the title and click “Clone,” a copy of this will appear at the top of the Post list with the word “Draft” next to the title.
    • Hover over the new file with “Draft” in the title and click on “Edit.” This will open the page.
    • Create a new title
    • Right below the title is the Permalink. Click on the grey “Edit” button and update the slug to match your title with dashes (-) between each word
  • If this is a new post… write an appropriate title, and text description
  • Scroll down and do the SEO, aligning the title, slug, metadescription and  to one keyphrase
  • Scroll over to right bottom and set a “Featured Image”
  • Put the post in the correct category by checking the correct box in the Category section
  • To publish, click on the blue “Publish” button on the right side box labeled “Publish” If you edit anything after publishing, this button will now say “Update.”
  • Use the  “Update” button often so that you don’t lose your saved work.
  • At the very top of the window in a black bar click on “View Page” to make sure everything looks right.
